In 1971 Chuck Wagner had just graduated from high school when his parents, Charlie and Lorna, asked him if he wanted to join them in founding a winery on their ranch. Fast forward several decades and today Caymus is one of Napa’s iconic wineries and a thriving family business still owned by the Wagner family.

Caymus is best known for its stunning Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon and Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon which are both powerful, full-bodied reds made from top quality grapes sourced from eight of Napa’s AVAs. Caymus’ Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon has a cult following among wine connoisseurs and is the only wine to have been selected twice for Wine Spectator magazine's “Wine of the Year” (1984 and 1990).

The property also produces a wide range of wines which are bottled under different labels, including Mer Soleil Chardonnay, Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, as well as the Conundrum and Red Schooner brands.

Visits to Caymus Vineyards are available by appointment and include a 90-minute guided tasting experience held in the property’s gorgeous garden. The tasting features five of their wines from the Caymus, Mer Soleil, Emmolo and Conundrum brands with a knowledge host is on hand to explain each wine in the flight.
