Opus One was founded by two legendary figures in the wine world, top winemaker Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild in France, who wanted to create a top quality Napa wine inspired by both Bordeaux and California.

Opus One produces a magnificent Bordeaux-style blend from their prime estate vineyards which is aged in new French oak barrels for 18 months. The result is a robust, full-bodied wine that can age beautifully for decades and frequently ranks amongst Napa’s finest red wines.

Opus One is ideal for those looking for a luxury Napa Valley wine tour thanks to the fantastic quality of the wines and the chic modernist surroundings. The winery is just a 20 minute drive from Napa and visitors are welcome with pre-booked appointments due to the popularity of the estate with wine collectors and connoisseurs.

Guests can reserve a tasting appointment which includes a flight of two Opus One vintages and the current vintage of Overture, Opus One’s second wine label. The tasting takes place in the Courtyard Tasting Room and costs $75. There is also the option to book a tour of the Opus One winery subject to availability.
